It is also highly unlikely that your FOB will be invaded by another player, even playing this game at launch it only happened to me a few times in several hundred hours of gameplay, and the consequence for a loss is always limited to some of your online GMP and resources which are collected differently from your offline resources (you might notice a little globe icon next to your online resources) I will say however that the FOB system is fortunately one that you can largely ignore while still getting the full experience of MGSV, there are some points in the main story that require you to go there briefly, but you will certainly never be forced to attack another player's FOB.
